First off, be warned that the male lead character describes himself, repetitively, as an @$$h0!e.Yep. He's THAT guy. My question is, why would anyone write a main character in a romance novel as this type of man?I'll give the author points for consistency. Ethan can't seem but help himself, accusing his potential love of promiscuous thoughts almost the entire book; fortunately, he gets the opportunity to be truly self-righteous at the climax, allowing him to truly overreact. I was glad to see that there was no domestic violence portrayed, only to be disgusted by the fact that I felt that about characters in a romance novel.This tempered by the fact that our heroine, Nic, almost doesn't exist. She doesn't evolve at all through the entire book (which is kind of incredible, considering this plot). She forgives every transgression so quickly it seems ridiculous that she was angered to begin with. Every decision is made for her. A true doormat, but it distracts us from her would-be partner's behavior.The book is well-written, but feels almost insidious in how it depicts Ethan's behavior as acceptable or even normal. I don't know how the author could have overlooked these questionable behaviors, but because of then, I just can't recommend this.
