What first attracted me to this book was its title. I’ve been a bookseller in the past and was curious if the author had the same observations as I did. Bookshops do attract some very interesting characters. To start with I did enjoy his observations, especially the “Expert” who can be very irritating. Unfortunately, this book is not a humorous celebration of diversity, but a series of snarky and mean portraits of people made by an elitist snob. I had to stop about halfway through the book because I was sickened by his cruel portrayals of people. I was sorry to have spent good money on a book by an author that should not be encouraged to write any thing else in this vein.
